ALBION STREET
Trongate, Glasgow

The 109 bed Somerset Aparthotel was created from a derelict listed Grade A building, originally the City of Glasgow Bank, designed in the Scottish baronial style by J.T. Rochead in 1855.

This pioneering hotel project completed in 2003.

“The painstaking restoration of the Glasgow treasure and the bold idea of it’s conversion to a hotel is the long awaited first step in the renaissance of Trongate.” Glasgow Herald

“J.T.Rochead’s overwhelmingly vulgar Baronial display of 1855 for The City of Glasgow Bank. Rochead delighted in stringcourses and hoodmoulds in a plethora of complicated mouldings and patterns in crowsteps, machicolations, broaches and bartizans. The elevation to Albion Street is a little more restful”
