CHINA WHARF
Mill Street, London SE1
Seventeen apartments and an office suite in Piers Gough/ CZWG’s first commission for a new building. Developed in partnership with Harry Neal Ltd, the China Wharf apartments sold out as soon as plans were released at what were then the highest values achieved in London’s Docklands.
The design won the RIBA Urban Design Award and The Civic Trust Award.
“The balcony to the ground floor office is in the form of a clinker hulled boat, appearing to float in the water at high tide, but ‘floating’ above the water at low tide; a quite extraordinary piece of built surrealism”
The Daily Telegraph
“A bold and imaginative scheme”
The Architects Journal
“Excellence and originality in the facade”
Harpers & Queen
“A very talented and original design”
